A Shadow in the East devlog 2: Great Khâns as recruitable heroes
Amdûr from Games Workshop canon and two characters I made up explained.
Hello, readers! Today I am posting another A Shadow in the East devlog, this time focused on the three characters referred to in the title and subtitle. Above is a portrait of Amdûr, Lord of Blades, and Great Khân of the Dragon Warriors (a new unit that I'll cover in a future devlog). His character bio will be another article in this journal, but it will not be related to A Shadow in the East. But, he's not the only new hero I'll add to Rhûn for A Shadow in the East. I'll add two characters I personally made up to the Age of the Ring Rhûn Hero menu as well. While I made Amdûr mostly from scratch, his hood, body, cape, and legs were the Age of the Ring team and a member of theirs called Mathijs. The blade texture is not final, I need to change it to look like an actual katana blade.
This is Fazli Fuzli, Great Khân of the Dragon Priests and Vizier to Vâh-rús. His magic is a set of destruction spells, including a mini Earth Tremor at level 10. He can also use the Flameburst ability of the Rhûn fortress at level 7 and has his own version of Black Dart at level 3. My design for him relies greatly on the pieces that EA Games made for custom Easterling captains. It also includes a head, body, cape, legs, saber, and scabbard that Mathijs made with the Age of the Ring team.
Finally, we come to Xûsrâ, the Great Khân of the Gold Army. Like with Amdûr, only the head, body, legs, and cape were Mathijs and the AOTR team. And I made the rest myself, including that saber there, and below is proof of that, as the handle is unlike the one used in Age of the Ring 8.0 and newer.
But unlike Amdûr, Xûsrâ is a foot fighter general and an army hunter while Amdûr is a Cavalry general and hero hunter. She is cold and ruthless and has no clemency for enemy military personnel. This lady really likes to destroy the opposition, she starts a battle, she wants to finish it! And yes, she and Fazli will get character bios as separate articles in this journal too.
Wrapping up
I hope you understand and look forward to these Great Khâns and their roles in gameplay. Thank you for reading this article, and I would appreciate a subscription!
