My Lack of new content and how I plan to fix it
Not strictly about Middle-earth but bear with me...
Hello! Today I am going to write about how I've been failing my content creation schedule I created towards the end of March, and how I intend to fix it here in Early April.
If you read my March 24th piece here, you'll know I set myself up to write a new article every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. And that I promised a new video every week posted and shared on Fridays. Unfortunately, I have been very lazy about this every week since then.
What's been holding me back?
Frankly, I've been watching the local news every morning. Then on a day off or a nightshift day, I spend my morning writing code for my Battle for Middle-earth mod projects. Remember when I wrote my A Shadow in the East devlog and said I'd be concentrated on graphics, music, and audio for those projects? What I do for my mod projects, currently, is completely the antithesis of what I said I'd focus on! Then, at night, I'll play a computer game on my laptop, and I have no shortage of those. But I never record my gameplay, even though doing so would make for a great Let's Play video! Given all of this…
How will I solve this issue?
This issue plagues not just my Middle-earth Content but also a fully original fantasy book I'm writing that's got Nothing to do with Middle-earth. The first thing I will do starting today is not watch the news anymore, replace it with writing a new article here. Then I will replace writing code with writing new pages of my fully original book. Lastly, I will turn every night of gaming into a recorded, edited, and posted video of me playing whichever game and talking about various topics. Oh, and some of those nights will be recordings of me making a new model or a new animation in Blender!
I know this is deviation from my initial content creation schedule, but I have bad habits that must be replaced with good habits. And so this is how I shall do it, starting today by writing and sharing with you this article.
How do I know this will work as intended?
There are many reasons I know this will lead to me being as prolific content creator as I should be. Here are those reasons:
Psychology shows the best way to break a bad habit is by replacing it with a good habit
The news media is so prolifically devoted to peddling despair that the best thing to do about it is stay away from it
I have wanted to create content that I'm passionate about for a living since I was fifteen, but only so that I can afford to give generously to help others
A true content creator creates new content extensively and is not distracted by the news or even by desire for instant pleasure
Middle-earth and Fantasy in general are my top passionate interests and therefore they have incentive for me to create new content based on them
Wrapping up
Thank you all for reading this plan of mine, and I also I will mark my Google Calendar to reflect this new plan! And I will build my content creation schedule around my work schedule so that I never need time off from work just for content creation!
